On World Obesity Day 2022, Leeds Beckett University launched its new Obesity Institute. The Institute will bring together a wealth of knowledge and experience from across the whole university and work with partner organisations to improve the lives of people living with obesity.
The Obesity Institute brings together academics from a range of disciplines across the university with policy makers, practitioners, and people living with or at risk of obesity and their families and carers, to co-develop innovative person-centred advances in obesity locally, nationally and internationally.
As a user-led, advocacy organisation dedicated to empowering the voice of people affected by obesity, we are delighted to see that the perspectives of people with lived-experience of obesity are central to the Institute’s approach.
