Obesity Health Alliance have published their 10-year Healthy Weight Strategy laying out a long-term agenda for UK Government action which makes it possible for everyone to move towards attaining, sustaining and enjoying improved wellbeing and healthy weight.

Over the last 30 years levels of obesity have increased significantly across the UK. Piecemeal efforts by governments to turn this tide have, been largely unsuccessful. However the right strategy – one that takes a system-wide approach across everywhere we live, learn, work and play – will enable everyone to move towards attaining, sustaining and enjoying improved wellbeing and a healthy weight, regardless of age, ethnicity and background.

This October Obesity Health Alliance (OHA) have launched their 10-year healthy weight strategy which sets out a long-term agenda of evidence-informed policies with 30 recommendations, covering food and drink marketing, early years and treatment as well as the infrastructure needed to ensure policies are robustly implemented and evaluated.

You can read a summary of the Strategy here and the full report here.

OEN UK strongly supports the system-wide approach, long-term agenda and recommendations laid out in the Strategy. OEN UK stands with OHA in calling on the UK Government to listen to the evidence, capitalise on the increasing public and political support for government action, and implement a system-wide approach to enabling a healthy weight for all.
