Pinki is Professor of Nutrition and Childhood Obesity and Co-Director for the Centre for Applied Obesity Research at Leeds Beckett University.
Her expertise and research interests include the development, implementation and evaluation of interventions addressing obesity.
Pinki is the Chair of the Association for the Study of Obesity (ASO) the UK's foremost organisation dedicated to the understanding and treatment of obesity and co-chair of the Leeds and Humber Regional ASO group. She is a member of the Weight and Health group at the Royal College of Physicians. She was an invited member on the Regional Funding Committee of the NIHR Research for Patients Benefit programme and is a panel member on the NIHR Clinical Academic Training Scheme. She has contributed to the recent NICE guidance on Managing overweight and obesity among children and young people: lifestyle weight management services’ (PH47), been involved in the development of DH commissioning guidelines for weight management programmes and the development of the Standard Obesity Evaluation Framework. She s lead for the Nutrition and Obesity theme within the Big Lottery funded Better Start Bradford programme.
Professor Sahota has most recently been cited as one of the top 50 BME pioneers within the UK by the Health Service Journal awarded for her impact on helping to shape and deliver excellent care in the area of obesity.
